Resources for Families
These extended guides came out of real moments in our family — a family member who didn't know what to say, a sibling who had questions, a stretch of weeks between a diagnosis and the first therapy appointment with nothing to do but wait and worry.
If any of these feel like something someone in your life needs, share them freely.
-
An intro guide written for the disorienting early stretch after a neurodevelopmental diagnosis — when you have too many questions, too many browser tabs open, and not enough of any of it feels like it was written for your family.
Covers what a diagnosis does and doesn't change, common threads across neurodevelopmental diagnoses, what tends to come next (therapies, early intervention, IEP basics), a five-item at-home toolkit, and two fillable worksheets: "A Page About My Kid" and "Where We're Starting."
Not diagnosis-specific. Written for any family in that early stretch, whatever the letters are.
-
A 13-page illustrated storybook — plus three activities — written for the brothers and sisters of kids who do things a little differently.
The story is narrated by Ladybug (the older sibling) and follows Snail (the younger sibling who moves at their own pace, communicates differently, and sometimes needs to go under their leaf for a while). It doesn't name any specific diagnosis on purpose — because every family's "different kind of bug" looks a little different.
Activities include Draw Your Garden, Same Team / Different Moves (a T-chart), and My Sibling's Favorite Things.
Read it together, or leave it somewhere and see what happens.
-
9 pages written for the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who love your child and want to help — but don't always know how.
Covers what might look different (and why), things that help, easy-to-get-wrong moments and how to redirect them, and what to say when other people ask questions. Includes a "Getting to Know [Name]" worksheet parents can fill out and share before visits or holiday gatherings.
No quiz at the end. Just a few things worth knowing.
